The main considerations for β-lactam treatment are immunological reactions, while macrolides may have some QT problems, especially patients on cardiac or anti-arrhythmic drugs. Fluoroquinolones can have central nervous system (CNS) effects, which could be a problem, especially in elderly patients suffering cerebral disorders, and tendon damage should be considered if a patient is on chronic steroid treatment.
