Have there been any changes in levofloxacin resistance trends over the past decade of use?

Levofloxacin has maintained excellent activity despite it being widely used throughout the world over a long period. The low incidence of resistance is emphasized by the fact that, while the total cumulative prescription rate is over 95 million in the United States alone, levofloxacin has maintained exceptional activity against one of its major pathogens, S. pneumoniae(Figure 7).
